Las Vegas
Greek Food Festival
The weather finally cooled a tiny bit (90′s) and with it brings outdoor festivals. Yahoo!
The Greek Food Festival http://www.vegasgreekorthodox.com/ was great. It was not as big as the San Generro Feast http://www.sangennarofeast.com/, last week, but it seemed have good support and was a fun family event. The wine was $16 per bottle but it was not good. It tasted like vinegar and oddly enough the red was chilled and served at icy cold temperatures. The saving grace was the food. It was tasty and the long lines proved everyone was there to eat.
There were multiple food tents, pastry tables, drink tents, art work, a favorite item was the bell skirts for kids.
Chicken pita with yogurt sauce and garlic fries.
Interesting Food News
http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com/Investing/CompanyFocus/TheIncredibleShrinkingDoritosBag.aspx Two months ago, 8/1/08, the article entitled The incredible shrinking Doritos bag on MSN Money Central caught my eye. It discusses how food manufacturers are repackaging products with less content as a way to cut cost. Seems like we might all be participating in an unintentional diet so it can’t be all bad, right?

Carnival of Cuisine Venetian
This week is a big big food week in Las Vegas! It was kicked off by the Carnival of Cuisine at the Venetian and will include Las Vegas Restaurant Week from September 1-7, 2008. On Aug. 31, I attended the carnival I nearly fell over from excitement when I saw 29 different restaurants all showing off their food in a ballroom in the Venetian. It was a food lovers dream come true. Some of the more memorable samples included sauteed leaks from Canyon Ranch Spa, Roast Beef sandwiches from B&B Restaurante and smores from Lavo.
